For veterans, families & advocates

Why This Mission Matters

My father was at Pearl Harbor in the Navy on December 7, 1941. From the deck of his ship, he watched friends burn alive and disappear beneath the waters of the harbor. Those memories never truly left him. My brother later served as a military helicopter pilot in the Army. Like so many who return from combat, he came home carrying invisible wounds—haunting memories that few could understand. In both of their generations, there was little meaningful support for veterans struggling with the psychological scars of war. Although our nation has made significant progress, too many veterans today continue to battle severe PTSD, depression, substance abuse, homelessness, and suicide. For many, the war does not end when they return home. The US has spent over $232 billion ( ¼ trillion dollars) battling PTSD (1) with only 50–70%+ of completers achieve clinically significant PTSD symptom reduction. Dropout rates are an unacceptable ~20–25%.(2) For decades, I have dedicated my commitment has never changed.

professional life to medical research, innovation, nutrition, assembling medical think tanks that successfully saved lives and developing technologies. Throughout the Vietnam era and beyond, I made it my personal mission to support those who served our country. Conducting research at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, UCI and UCSD. That commitment has never changed.

Today, through Citizens of Hope California Chapter, we have an opportunity to bring together an exceptional team of physicians, university researchers, mental health professionals, chaplains, nutrition specialists, and veteran peer mentors into one coordinated program. Rather than relying on a single approach, we believe recovery requires an integrated model that addresses the physical, emotional, nutritional, spiritual, and social dimensions of healing. Our vision is to create a program that not only treats symptoms but restores hope, resilience, and purpose. We believe this collaborative approach has the potential to produce significantly better outcomes than traditional stand-alone interventions. But vision alone cannot save lives.

Without funding, this program will remain only an idea. With your partnership, it can become a lifeline for veterans and their families who desperately need new options.

Every day we delay is another day that veterans continue to struggle without access to the comprehensive care they deserve. Your investment will help us assemble the medical experts, researchers, counselors, and support professionals needed to launch this groundbreaking initiative.

Together, we can honor those who sacrificed to preserve freedom by giving them something many have lost: hope for a healthier future and the opportunity to reclaim their lives.

Citizens of Hope past success foretelling a promise

For more than 15 years, Citizens of Hope has stood beside our veterans—providing housing assistance to over 100 heroes while delivering consistent counseling, peer support, and resource coordination that restores stability, dignity, and self-sufficiency.

Yet the need is far greater than what we can currently meet. At the heart of Citizens of Hope is a solemn promise: to prevent veteran suicide and heal the invisible wounds of war. Every day, approximately 18 veterans take their own lives. Behind each number is a father, mother, son, daughter, or sibling who deserves better.

To meet this crisis with truly transformative, life-saving care, sufficient funding can launch a groundbreaking satellite BioSci Program. This innovative initiative integrates cutting-edge biofeedback technology directly into personalized counseling sessions reverse any negative spiritual. Memories. Of perhaps cult religions., and bond them with those that have successfully rehabilitated themselves from PTSD.and advance genetic testing to select and prevent those at risk. Veterans will gain real-time mastery over their bodies’ responses to trauma — learning to regulate heart rate variability, reduce overwhelming hyperarousal, and break the relentless cycle of PTSD symptoms.

We will also be developing new biofeedback innovations linked to therapy and nutrition designed to accelerate healing in ways never before possible — with AI assisted projections and optimization. Creating faster, deeper, and more lasting recovery for those who have carried the burden of war.

Every veteran deserves more than temporary relief — they deserve hope, control, and a future worth fighting for.

Through the BioSci Program and expanded services, Citizens of Hope is pioneering a new standard of care — one where advanced technology and deep compassion work hand in hand to save lives and restore purpose.

With your support, we can reach far more suƯering veterans before it’s too late. Together, we can turn the tide on veteran suicide and give our heroes the second chance they have earned.

We respectfully ask you to join us in making that mission a reality.
